Iowa men’s basketball head coach Fran McCaffery announced in a release on Wednesday that the Hawkeyes have signed junior college prospect Bryce Cartwright to a tender. Cartwright becomes the second player McCaffery has successfully recruited since becoming Iowa’s head coach on March 29.

Cartwright’s college basketball career originally began at Fresno State. As a freshman during the 2008-09 season, he started 20 games for the Bulldogs, averaging 4.9 points and 3.2 assists per contest.

The Compton, Calif., native then transferred to Paris Junior College last year, where he averaged nine points and 3.5 assists per game.

“We are excited to have Bryce become part of our Hawkeye family,” McCaffery said about his new 6-1 guard. “He will be an excellent backcourt player for us who will definitely make an impact in our up-tempo style of play.”
