Iowa football schedules for 2013, 2014 released

As first reported by ESPN.com’s Adam Rittenberg, the Big Ten revealed its conference schedules for the 2013 and 2014 seasons on Wednesday.

Iowa, as mentioned on here last week, will play Ohio State, Purdue and Wisconsin from the Leaders division during both seasons. The Hawkeyes open conference play in 2013 with a September meeting at Minnesota, followed by a home contest with Michigan State. Following the first of two open weeks, Iowa would play four straight at Ohio State, at home against Northwestern and Wisconsin, and at Purdue. The last two games following the second open week would be against Michigan at Kinnick Stadium and at Nebraska.

In 2014, the Hawkeyes have their game at Wisconsin scheduled between two open weeks, then will play seven consecutive weeks to close out the season, beginning with home games against Ohio State and Purdue to round out October. The rest of the conference schedule features back-to-back road games at Michigan and Northwestern, followed by a home game against Minnesota, a trip to Michigan State, and a home meeting with Nebraska to end the season.

Iowa will not play Illinois for the fifth and sixth straight seasons. The Hawkeyes’ non-conference games in 2013 are against (in order) Northern Illinois, Missouri State, at Iowa State, and Western Michigan, while the 2014 slate features home games against Northern Iowa, Ball State, and Iowa State, as well as a road game at Pittsburgh before Big Ten play begins.
