As first reported by the Quad-City Times, former Iowa free safety Brett Greenwood was hospitalized in Bettendorf on Friday after he collapsed while working out at Pleasant Valley High School, which Greenwood attended. He has since been transported to University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City, where he is reportedly in critical condition.

Greenwood started the majority of all four seasons in which he played for the Hawkeyes at free safety from 2007-10. Last July, he signed as an undrafted free agent with the Pittsburgh Steelers and played for Pittsburgh throughout the preseason before getting cut by the Steelers last week.

Thoughts and prayers are with Greenwood, his family and close friends.

My prayers are with you and your family. I went through the same thing 5 years ago and had a 5 way bypass.
