IOWA CITY, Iowa — Prior to the Hawkeyes’ game Saturday against Penn State at Carver-Hawkeye Arena, a pre game ceremony was held paying tribute to the 1986-87 squad that reached the Elite Eight in what was head coach Tom Davis’ first season.

Had the opportunity to meet this team and get a slew of autographs during a December practice while traveling to my hometown of Waverly. They treated my family with the utmost respect and made a lasting impression on my boys, 8 and 10 years old at that time. A fine group of young men at that time and they still make me proud to be a Hawkeye.
