Like they did in London earlier this week, the Iowa Hawkeyes completed the Paris portion of their European tour 2-for-2 after defeating St. Quentin 93-74 on Saturday in the French capital. The win puts Iowa at 4-0 thus far on its six-game trip across the continent.

Head coach Fran McCaffery went with the same starting five he had Friday in the Hawkeyes’ win over the AMW All-Stars, which consisted of seniors Devyn Marble and Melsahn Basabe, juniors Aaron White and Josh Oglesby and sophomore center Adam Woodbury.

Iowa and St. Quentin were tied at 20-20 after one quarter before the Hawkeyes began their surge that head coach Fran McCaffery described afterwards as “a consistency of effort.” Four players — Oglesby, Marble, White and sophomore guard Anthony Clemmons each tallied 12 points for Iowa. The Hawkeyes also shot slightly over 50 percent from the floor on the day, including an 8-of-20 effort from 3-point range after going just 2-of-18 behind the arc one night earlier.

They also held a 42-18 edge in bench points, something that really pleased McCaffery.

“Unbelievably balanced,” McCaffery said during a postgame interview with Hawkeye Sports. “I’m able to go to my bench and change what’s going on on the floor with 1-2 subs, 3-4 subs. Very rarely can a coach go mass substitutions, five for five. I can do that.

“I’ve got offense coming off the bench, I’ve got size, I’ve got versatility. That’s the way we designed it. It’s great to see it come together.”

The last two games of Iowa’s trip will be played in the southern portion of France, with the first of the two contests taking place in Toulon on Aug. 19 against Hyéres-Toulon Basket. Tip-off is scheduled for 11 a.m. Central.
