Iowa head coach Kirk Ferentz made two announcements via press release Tuesday. One is the addition of former Iowa defensive end Broderick Binns as a graduate assistant, with Binns primarily working with special teams. Binns redshirted in 2007 and played from 2008-2011. During that time frame, Binns started 31 games for the Hawkeyes, including all of both the 2009 and 2011 seasons.

Iowa has also announced the establishment of a new division of recruiting and personnel comprised of three people who were already working inside the football program. Kelvin Bell — a former player who had served as a graduate assistant — now holds the self-explanatory title of On-Campus Recruiting Director, while Max Allen was named Director of Football New Media and Scott Southmayd was named Director of Player Personnel. Allen had been an administrative assistant, while Southmayd was previously Iowa’s Quality Control Director.

All three men will be working alongside first-year recruiting coordinator Seth Wallace, who returned to the program earlier this summer after previously serving on the coaching staff at Valdosta State.
