Iowa senior defensive end Adrian Clayborn was named a preseason All-American on Wednesday by Playboy magazine.
The St. Louis native becomes the 16th Hawkeye to ever receive this honor, and the first since former linebacker Chad Greenway (now of the Minnesota Vikings) received the accolade in 2005.
Clayborn is also the second defensive end (Matt Roth) and fourth defensive lineman (Alex Karras, Jared DeVries) in Iowa history to ever be recognized preseason by the magazine.
As a junior for the Hawkeyes last season, Clayborn finished with 70 tackles, nine of which came in the 2010 FedEx Orange Bowl against Georgia Tech, earning him the game’s Most Valuable Player honor.
