Last weekend, I concocted a proposal for not only how the Big Ten should split into two divisions next year, but even presented a proposed conference schedule for each of the next four seasons.
After reading a lot of opinions from writers across the conference, I feel compelled to reiterate this point. Splitting them geographically with an East division and West division makes the most sense, and I really don’t see how they shouldn’t be shaped like this.
To prove that what I proposed makes sense and is feasible, I’m going to draw out my proposed conference schedules for 2011-14 again, but in a more reader-friendly format for all of you. Again, these are conference games only, and these are written in order from start to finish.

I encourage feedback not only from Iowa fans on this scheduling proposal, but from fans of all the other 11 Big Ten schools as well.

I like the layout. I would also consider switching MSU and NW around, to give the West another strong team and make it the more up-and-down strength to balance out the top-heavy East. This reasoning is based on the idea that more competitive teams in the West is more likely to generate a greater variety of West champs, thus a greater opportunity to win the conference championship. MSU seems more likely to pull it off than NW over the long-haul, thus that swap. But I also like the straight split down the Ill/Wisc latitudinal line.
so i understand why it makes sense for an east and a west division, but shouldnt we try to avoid another repeat of the big 12? it seems good on paper and easier to put these teams close but what about in 10 years? will the east be the new big 12 south? bc we all know noone took the big 12 north seriously and a top 3 if not a top 2 team in nebraska suffered dearly for being in a weak division, in my opinion of course lol
