Evans deal to Charlotte now dead

Posted on 12. Jul, 2010 by in Iowa Basketball

After multiple reports surfaced on Monday that former Iowa power forward Reggie Evans would be traded by the Toronto Raptors to Charlotte as part of a deal featuring Jose Calderon and Tyson Chandler, reports now say Bobcats owner Michael Jordan has squashed the deal entirely.

Had it gone through, Evans and Calderon would have been traded to the Bobcats in exchange for Chandler and Boris Diaw. Evans is currently the only former Hawkeye currently under contract in the NBA, with one year remaining on his deal.

Last season, the Pensacola, Fla., native averaged 3.4 points and 3.8 rebounds playing in 28 games for the Raptors. Evans averages 4.2 points and 6.7 rebounds for his entire pro career.

After transferring from Coffeyville Community College in Kansas in 2000, Evans had a breakout junior year that culminated in him earning MVP honors at the 2001 Big Ten Tournament in Chicago, where the Hawkeyes defeated Northwestern, Ohio State, Penn State, and Indiana over the course of a four-day span.
