IOWA CITY, Iowa — At halftime, the No. 9 Iowa Hawkeyes lead Eastern Illinois, 28-7.
Iowa’s offense has clicked, particularly sophomore running back Adam Robinson. The 5-9 running back has 78 yards rushing on 14carries, and has scored touchdowns from four, two, and six yards out, respectively.
Senior running back Paki O’Meara was also the beneficiary of a blocked punt, returning it 16 yards for a Hawkeye touchdown in the final minutes of the first quarter.
Eastern Illinois’ score came in the second quarter after a successful fake punt run. Quarterback Brandon Large completed an 11-yard pass into the end zone to tight end Von Wise, to make the score 21-7 at that point.
Iowa quarterback Ricky Stanzi is 11-of-13 passing in the first half, and came out during the Hawkeyes’ third offensive series after his foot caught the Kinnick Stadium turf, and he fell awkwardly. He did return to the game on Iowa’s following possession.
