Iowa wide receiver Marvin McNutt will play for the Hawkeyes in 2011.

On Wednesday, McNutt posted on his Facebook page, “I’m going back.” This was later confirmed by Iowa head coach Kirk Ferentz in a release sent Wednesday afternoon.

“I was very happy to learn this morning of Marvin’s intentions to finish his career at Iowa as a senior next fall,” Ferentz said in the release. “Marvin has done some tremendous things for our team the past several years, and we anticipate him enjoying a very productive year as both a player and team leader in his senior year.”

McNutt becomes the second Iowa junior to choose staying for his senior year after cornerback Shaun Prater announced he would return to Iowa on Jan. 11. Last season, McNutt recorded team-highs with 53 receptions and 861 receiving yards for the Hawkeyes and will be the offense’s No. 1 receiver heading into the spring.

This leaves safety Tyler Sash as the lone Iowa junior left to publicly make the decision to either forego his final season of eligibility for the NFL or stay at Iowa for his senior year. The deadline for juniors to declare for the 2011 NFL Draft is Jan. 15.
