Former Iowa safety Tyler Sash was selected in the 2011 NFL Draft by the New York Giants in the sixth round with the 198th overall pick on Saturday. Sash gets taken in the draft after opting to forego his senior year at Iowa, and he was the sixth Hawkeye selected, matching a school record set last year.

As a junior last season, the Oskaloosa, Iowa native recorded 79 tackles and hauled in two interceptions. For his three-year career, Sash tallied a total of 217 tackles and 13 interceptions, which was five short of matching a school-record.

Last year, the Giants went 10-6, but missed the playoffs.
