Iowa releases 2011 non-conference schedule

The Iowa men’s basketball team released the non-conference portion of its 2011-12 schedule Thursday following final approval from the university’s Presidential Committee on Athletics.
As first reported here on HawkeyeDrive.com, the Hawkeyes will take part in a five-team exempt tournament that features three home games against Chicago State, North Carolina A&T and Campbell, as well a contest against Creighton that will be held Nov. 20 at Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines, Iowa. Sanwiched in-between these four games will be a home contest against Northern Illinois on Nov. 17.
Also featured on Iowa’s schedule are home games against Clemson on Nov. 29 (which is part of this year’s Big Ten/ACC Challenge), in-state rival Drake on Dec. 17, Indiana-Purdue-Fort Wayne (IPFW) on Nov. 26, Brown on Dec. 3, Central Arkansas on Dec. 19 and Boise State on Dec. 22. The two lone road games are both in December against in-state rivals Northern Iowa and Iowa State. The Hawkeyes will face the Panthers in Cedar Falls on Dec. 6, and then play at Hilton Coliseum in Ames against the Cyclones on Dec. 9.
In addition, Iowa will welcome Northwest Missouri State to Carver-Hawkeye Arena on Nov. 6 for an exhibition contest.
Below is the entire non-conference schedule. No times have been released yet. Iowa’s Big Ten schedule will be released later this summer.
