On Wednesday, the Big Ten announced its entire 2011-12 men’s basketball conference schedule, cementing the entire 2011-12 slate for the Iowa Hawkeyes.

Iowa will open Big Ten play against the team it concluded conference play with last year in Purdue. The Hawkeyes host the Boilermakers on Dec. 28 in the teams’ first meeting against each other since Iowa upset then-No. 6 Purdue, 67-65, back on March 5.

The first of two meetings against Wisconsin follows with a trip to the Kohl Center on New Year’s Eve in a 12 p.m. Central game airing on BTN. Iowa rings in 2012 with a trip to Minnesota on Jan. 4, then plays its lone meeting with Ohio State at Carver-Hawkeye Arena on Jan. 7.

The Hawkeyes then play their only games that following week against both Michigan State and Michigan. Iowa will visit East Lansing on Jan. 10 to face the Spartans, then return home for a game against the Wolverines on Jan. 14.

Following a trip to Purdue on Jan. 17, the Hawkeyes will have their first bye, then return to the court on Jan. 26 for the first of two meetings against Nebraska, a 6 p.m. Central game at Carver-Hawkeye Arena.

Iowa concludes the month of January with a trip to Indiana on Jan. 29, then plays two straight at home to open February against Minnesota on Feb. 1 and Penn State on Feb. 4. The Hawkeyes’ second bye comes following a Feb. 9 contest at Northwestern, then Iowa plays its second game in two weeks against the Nittany Lions at the Bryce Jordan Center in State College, Pa., on Feb. 16.

After two straight at home against Indiana on Feb. 19 and Wisconsin on Feb. 23, the second of those being a game airing on either ESPN or ESPN2, the Hawkeyes play their lone contest against Illinois at Assembly Hall in Champaign on Feb. 26. Iowa then travels to Nebraska on Feb. 29, and will play its regular-season finale at home on March 3 against Northwestern in a game scheduled to start at 1:30 p.m. Central.

The Big Ten Tournament starts on March 8 at Conseco Fieldhouse in Indianapolis, Ind. Iowa has an exhibition game on Nov. 6 against Northwest Missouri State set for 3:30 p.m. Central at Carver-Hawkeye Arena.

The official start to the regular season is Nov. 11, when Iowa plays host to Chicago State in a game schedule to tip off at 7 p.m. Central.
