Iowa forward Aaron White was one of 16 freshmen to find himself named to the 2012 Kyle Macy Freshman All-America team on Tuesday. The Strongsville, Ohio native received the honor following a campaign that consisted of averaging 11.1 points and 5.7 rebounds per game. White led the Hawkeyes in rebounding during the 2011-12 season and was also named to the Big Ten’s all-Freshman team earlier this month.
White was one of three Big Ten players to be named to the team, with the others being co-Big Ten Freshmen of the Year recipients Trey Burke of Michigan and Cody Zeller of Indiana. Also named to the team were Kentucky’s duo of center Anthony Davis and guard Michael Kidd-Gilchrist. They were the only players from any of this weekend’s Final Four teams to be chosen.
In Iowa’s two NIT games, White finished with a combined 47 points and 19 rebounds. His 25-point effort in the Hawkeyes’ 84-75 first round win over Dayton was a career-high for the 6-8 forward.
