Here’s a rundown of what Iowa basketball fans can expect Sunday afternoon with the two Prime Time League games taking place inside the Jones Gym at the North Liberty Community Center:

Vinton Merchants/Mike Gatens Real Estate (2-0) vs. L.L. Pelling Company/McCurry’s (1-1), 3 p.m.

The first contest of the afternoon features the PTL’s lone unbeaten in Merchants/Gatens against a Pelling/McCurry’s squad that lost its first game last week after winning its opener.

As far as what to watch for, the biggest thing — literally — is the center match-up between incoming freshman Adam Woodbury and sophomore Gabe Olaseni. After struggling in his PTL debut on June 19, Woodbury bounced back in a big way last week in Merchants/Gatens’ 93-82 win by posting a double-double of 10 points and 11 rebounds. Meanwhile, Olaseni through two PTL games has shown consistency for Pelling/McCurry’s with a nine-point, six-rebound performance in the opener, followed by a nine-point, five-rebound effort last week.

Another intriguing match-up comes along the wing, as Pelling/McCurry’s will pit junior Devyn Marble against sophomore Josh Oglesby for Merchants/Gatens. Oglesby had 20 points and six assists last week after missing his team’s first game due to a night class at the UI, while Marble is coming off a 34-point showing where he shot 12-of-19 from the floor.

Pelling/McCurry’s will also have to figure out answers on Sunday for junior Zach McCabe and incoming transfer Jarrod Uthoff. McCabe compiled a double-double last time out of 22 points and 10 rebounds, while Uthoff had 12 points and nine rebounds in Merchants/Gatens’ victory last week.

Jill Armstrong of Skogman Realty (1-1) vs. Culver’s/Iowa City Ready Mix (0-2), 4:30 p.m.

Sunday’s second game features a team in Culver’s/Ready Mix looking for its first win of the summer against an Armstrong/Skogman squad looking to build off a 106-98 win over Pelling/McCurry’s last week.

This contest features a pair of forwards not only looking to continue having strong summers, but carry them over to next season for the Hawkeyes. Sophomore Aaron White has averaged 31 points through two games thus far for Culver’s/Ready Mix and is coming off a 22-point, seven-rebound showing against Merchants/Gatens last week. Meanwhile, junior Melsahn Basabe will want to build off a 29-point, 14-rebound effort that helped propel Armstrong/Skogman to a win on June 24.

Also featured in this contest will be a pair of freshman point guards going at it with Mike Gesell for Armstrong/Skogman and Anthony Clemmons for Culver’s/Ready Mix. Gesell flirted with a triple-double last week, finishing with 14 points, nine assists and five rebounds, while Clemmons had 11 points last time out on 5-of-9 shooting from the floor.

Other names to watch include senior Eric May for Culver’s/Ready Mix after he finished with 17 points and nine rebounds last week, and for Armstrong/Skogman, former center Jarryd Cole will attempt to build off a 32-point, 11-rebound contest. Armstrong/Skogman also features freshman forward Kyle Meyer, who had four points and seven rebounds last week, and sophomore forward Darius Stokes, who had five points and seven boards.
