Here’s a rundown of what Iowa basketball fans can expect Sunday afternoon with the two Prime Time League games taking place inside the Jones Gym at the North Liberty Community Center:

Jill Armstrong of Skogman Realty (2-2) vs. Culver’s/Iowa City Ready Mix (0-4), 3 p.m.

Both of Sunday’s games are rematches from July 1. The afternoon’s first contest features a Culver’s/Ready Mix team still seeking its first win of the summer after a three-point loss last week against an Armstrong/Skogman squad that is coming off its second loss of the summer and will be either the second or third seed in next week’s PTL semifinals.

Armstrong/Skogman took the first meeting between these teams, 109-94, thanks in part to dominating performances by both junior forward Melsahn Basabe and incoming freshman guard Mike Gesell. Basabe scored a team-high 32 points on 14-of-23 shooting and compiled nine rebounds, while Gesell had 25 points on 11-of-18 shooting, along with five rebounds and four assists. Last week, Gesell posted his first double-double of the summer with 28 points and 10 assists.

Also contributing in Armstrong/Skogman’s July 1 victory over Culver’s/Ready Mix was former Iowa center Jarryd Cole, who had 14 points and 12 rebounds.

As for Culver’s/Ready Mix, it will be seeking another dominating performance from sophomore forward Aaron White, who dropped 39 points and 16 rebounds in its loss last week. Against Armstrong/Skogman two weeks ago, White finished with a double-double of 19 points and 17 rebounds. Also posting a double-double in that contest was incoming freshman forward Kyle Meyer, who had 14 points and 12 rebounds. Meyer will be looking for his third straight game with double-digit boards.

Culver’s/Ready Mix will also have senior forward Eric May back at its disposal after he was out of town last week. The Dubuque native had 17 points and six rebounds in the loss to Armstrong/Skogman.

Vinton Merchants/Mike Gatens Real Estate (3-1) vs. L.L. Pelling Company/McCurry’s (3-1), 4:30 p.m.

The winner of this second game between Merchants/Gatens and Pelling/McCurry’s secures the top seed in next week’s PTL semifinals after both squads picked up victories last week. Pelling/McCurry’s handed Merchants/Gatens its lone loss this summer back on July 1, 98-84, and enters on a two-game winning streak after a 100-97 win last week over Culver’s/Ready Mix. Meanwhile, Merchants/Gatens is coming off a 104-96 win over Armstrong/Skogman, its second against it this summer.

Propelling Pelling/McCurry’s to victory in the first meeting between these teams is the duo of sophomore forward Gabe Olaseni and junior guard Devyn Marble. Olaseni had 20 points on 9-of-15 shooting, along with seven rebounds, while Marble’s stat line showed 14 points, five rebounds and four assists. Last week, Olaseni came one rebound shy of a double-double tallying 15 points and nine rebounds and Marble finished with 25 points in the win over Culver’s/Ready Mix.

As for Merchants/Gatens, incoming freshman center Adam Woodbury will look to build off what he called his best game this summer after going for 16 points on 7-of-11 shooting against Armstrong/Skogman. The Sioux City native had eight points and 14 rebounds while going head-to-head with Olaseni the last time these teams met.

Woodbury was one of six players to score in double-figures for Merchants/Gatens last week. Both forwards Zach McCabe and Jarrod Uthoff had 17 points each and sophomore guard Josh Oglesby had 13 points and four assists. Oglesby had 20 points against Pelling/McCurry’s two weeks ago.
