Iowa senior-to-be Devyn Marble and junior-to-be Aaron White both received invites to Team USA’s training camp for the World University Games scheduled to take place in Kasan, Russia next month. The camp takes place June 24-30 at the U.S. Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colo.

Marble and White are among 29 collegiate players invited to the training camp. The 12-player squad will be coached by Davidson’s Bob McKillop and the final roster will be announced later this month. Should either Marble or White (or both of them) make the final cut, they would leave for Russia on July 1 to play in the tournament, which takes place July 6-17.

A total of seven Big Ten players were among the invitees, with the other five consisting of Michigan State’s Adreian Payne, Minnesota’s Andre Hollins, Purdue’s A.J. Hammons and the Indiana duo of Will Sheehey and Yogi Ferrell.

Team USA is one of 24 nations participating in the tournament and will be grouped in the preliminary round that starts on July 7 with the United Arab Emirates, Czech Republic, Sweden, Australia and Canada. The Gold Medal Game is scheduled to take place on July 16.

Last season, Marble led the Hawkeyes in scoring with an average of 15 points per game. Meanwhile, White led Iowa in rebounding for the second straight season, hauling in 6.2 boards per contest. He was also second to Marble in scoring.
