Iowa junior guard Josh Oglesby will be held out approximately six weeks with a broken right foot, Iowa head coach Fran McCaffery announced in a release Friday. The news of Oglesby’s injury was first reported by the Cedar Rapids Gazette’s Scott Dochterman on Thursday.

Oglesby injured his foot during the Hawkeyes’ practice Wednesday and was scheduled to have surgery Friday. The Cedar Rapids native’s absence sets Iowa’s rotation down to 10 players now and will likely result in more minutes off the bench now for both freshman guard Peter Jok and sophomore guard Anthony Clemmons.

“This is an unfortunate setback,” McCaffery said in a statement Friday. “We expect Josh to make a full recovery and look forward to him returning in time for conference play.”

The Hawkeyes open their 2013-14 Friday evening against UNC-Wilmington at 8:30 p.m. Central inside Carver-Hawkeye Arena. The game is scheduled to air live on ESPN3.
