BLOOMINGTON, Ind. — No. 15 Iowa’s game against Indiana scheduled for Tuesday evening has been postponed due to a piece of metal falling from the ceiling of Assembly Hall into the arena’s lower bowl.

According to a release sent out by Indiana, the metal fell roughly six-and-a-half hours before the game was scheduled to take place.

In the same release, Indiana athletics director Fred Glass said the following: “Safety is our No. 1 priority. Our University engineers have advised us to postpone events in Assembly Hall until it can be determined what caused the facing to fall and ensure the safety of everyone attending an event in the facility.”

UPDATE: HawkeyeDrive.com has confirmed via sources that the Hawkeyes are heading back to Iowa City this evening. There were discussions about possibly moving the game to Bankers Life Fieldhouse in Indianapolis on Wednesday, but nothing was finalized. As of now, there’s still no make-up date decided.

(UPDATE: A statement released by Iowa athletics director Gary Barta Tuesday evening confirms the Hawkeyes leaving Bloomington later in the night.)
